The Historical Society of Perry County is currently raising funds to support repairs to the Red Covered Bridge, its historic covered bridge property located in Liverpool, Pennsylvania. This important local landmark requires nearly $12,000 in repairs to address a number of structural and preservation needs.
Planned repairs include repointing stone masonry, stabilizing bridge abutments, removing graffiti from the stonework, replacing rotten planking, repairing a cracked beam, fixing roof leaks, and completing several additional maintenance tasks necessary to protect the structure for years to come.
The Historical Society of Perry County is proud and grateful to share that it has received nearly $3,000 in funding, along with additional funding commitments, from the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges to support these repairs. The Society has also received a $1,000 funding commitment from the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society of Pennsylvania. Their generosity represents an important step toward preserving this historic structure.
While these contributions provide significant support, additional funding is still needed to complete the full scope of repairs. The Historical Society is deeply appreciative of the support from the National Society for the Preservation of Covered Bridges and the Theodore Burr Covered Bridge Society of Pennsylvania as we work together to safeguard this historic landmark.
Community support will play a vital role in ensuring the bridge can be restored and properly maintained. If you would like to help support the necessary structural stone masonry and wood repairs, donations by cash or check may be mailed to:
